Summary
I am a Geophysicist, specializing in 2D/3D Land and Marine Seismic Data Processing; my forte is Seismic Depth Imaging (PSDM/PSTM) using Landmark products SeisSpace, ProMAX, LDI, RTM and WEM and Paradim GeoDepth. I have extensive experience processing seismic data, quality control of contractor processed seismic data, QC Field Geophysicist and Workshop Instructor. I have been processing seismic data contiguously since 1973.
Halliburton
Houston, Texas; (2012-2016) Consulting Adviser- Global Seismic Processing Services
Provided seismic data processing services including seismic data processing center startup (two locations), seismic data processing mentoring and training, processing workflows, global seismic processing web casts, depth imaging products and 2D/3D Land and Marine acquisition processed seismic data products. I provided these services on site and on location in Luanda, Angola, Algiers, Algeria, Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan, Abu Dhabi, UAE, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Daejoen, South Korea, Tokyo, Japan, Dehradun, India, Cairo Egypt, Tripoli, Libya, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, Villahermosa and Reynosa, Mexico, Bucaramanga, Colombia, Denver Colorado and Houston, Texas.
Global Geophysical and Jaguar Exploration, Inc.
Doha, Qatar, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Texas (2010-2012); Geophysicist
I processed 2D Land and 3D Marine Seismic data (SeisSpace) on location in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and also in Missouri City, Texas. I worked as a QC Field Geophysicist on contract with Jaguar Exploration subcontracted to Qatar Petroleum. I supervised the Quality Control of the seismic processing and Field QC of a large Land/Transition Zone/Marine 3D acquisition project.
Saudi ARAMCO
Dhahran, Saudi Arabia (2003-2010; Retired September 1, 2010); Geophysicist
I was employed with Saudi ARAMCO as a Seismic Data Processing Geophysicist on location in Dhahran; I specialized in depth imaging, velocity model building, seismic time processing and QC of field acquisition and contractor processing QC. I have a diversified geophysical background which includes presenting Geophysical Workshops. I have retirement benefits from Saudi Aramco, specifically health and dental insurance; consequently, I do not require insurance from any future employment.
My accomplishments are notoriety with ProMAX and wave equation algorithms. My previous extensive worldwide overseas work experience with MacShane Geophysical Inc. was recognized by the ARAMCO Dhahran depth imaging team. In Dhahran I tested and evaluated wave equation depth imaging algorithms, imaged hydrocarbon potential horizon maps and processed geophysical 2D and 3D seismic data.
I spend 40% of my time calculating depth predictions to hydrocarbon rich target horizons. I used GeoDepth to migrate the time migrated maps to depth and I used geo-statistics to extrapolate the results. Depth prediction maps were delivered and presented to the interpreting geophysicist. The deliverables were archived in a final written report and vetted via peer review formal slide show presentations. I spend another 40% of my time processing 2D and 3D seismic time data. Another 10% of my time was involved in testing and evaluating in-house ARAMCO developed wave equation depth migration algorithms. The last 10% involved presenting slide show presentations to my peers and attending seismic acquisition planning meetings. One example in particular involved wave equation datuming. This workflow has now been incorporated into the production flow for ARAMCO in-house seismic processing.
MacShane Geophysical, Inc.
Katy, Texas, USA (1994-2003); President and Chief Geophysicist
I started MacShane Geophysical Inc. (MGI) in 1994 and unincorporated it in January 2003. I provided geophysical services to the oil & gas industry worldwide. I provided geophysical services on location in the US, Mexico, France, England, Poland, Niger and China. Geophysical services provided were 2D and 3D seismic time processing, depth imaging and third party seismic processing quality control (QC) and field QC. Companies contracting MGI services are listed as follows: HydroSearch, Energy Innovations, Houston GeoScan, Jaguar Exploration, Exploration Consultants, BP, PEMEX, YPF, Maxus, OXY USA, Ocean Energy, UMIC, Enron, Exxon and Total.
I maintained the financial books, supervised and worked all the geophysical jobs, lectured geophysical training workshops and volunteered my time to geophysical application user committees.
I volunteered as assistant coordinator of the Houston ProMAX Users Group. I planned, presented and coordinated the Houston meetings. My volunteer work put my company in the fore front of the important issues of the time.
I was invited to present Geophysical Workshops to the Mexican Oil company, PEMEX in Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, Mexico. PEMEX was aware of my recent accomplishments with ProMAX and the wave equation migration algorithm. I lectured geophysical workshops, planned seismic acquisition surveys, provided quality control of seismic acquisition and processed seismic data in Mexico. The seismic processing included the wave equation migration algorithms which I had perfected with my work with BP. The client integrated my work into the PEMEX seismic processing flow.
I provided in field geophysics quality control on location in Mexico, Niger and Egypt.
Marathon Oil Company
Houston, Texas, USA (1989-1994); Senior Geophysicist
I processed and delivered subsalt depth image products of prospects in Gabon, Egypt, Celtic Sea and the Gulf of Mexico on location in Houston, Texas and Cairo, Egypt. I planned and quality controlled 3D seismic processing and supervised acquisition.
OXY
Houston, Texas, USA (1979-1989); Manager of the Houston Seismic Data Processing Center
I managed a technical staff of 3 Geophysicist and 2 Computer Operators with an annual 1985 budget of $600,000 USD. I was responsible for the recruitment, hiring and supervision for operations. I processed the high profile 2D seismic surveys and supervised the quality of the in-house seismic processing. I also quality controlled the outside contractor seismic processing.
Seismograph Service Corporation and Digicon
1973-1979; QC Field Geophysicist
I performed field geophysics on location in Oklahoma, Texas, Bolivia, South America and Libya, North Africa.
